What is an Emergency?

Posted on 03/11/26

Please only call out the emergency electrician or plumber in the following situations:

ELECTRICIAN

• Total Loss of Power. Only an emergency when there is a total loss of power to the entire property which cannot be rectified by resetting the master switch.
• Partial Loss of Power. This is only an emergency when there is a potential safety hazard such as when in a communal hallway (apartment block).

WORTH CHECKING…

Please check that the electricity supply company has not turned off the main switch for repair work.
Please check that there is not a power cut throughout the area.

PLUMBER

• Blocked drains. Blocked foul water drain causing flooding or overflowing internally or externally.
• Water leaks. If a leak cannot be contained and its causing damage, especially if its leaking into an electrical fitting.
• Central heating and hot water. Complete failure of the central heating / hot water system.

WORTH CHECKING…

Please check that the water supply company has not turned off the main switch for repair work.

NOT AN EMERGENCY…

Non-emergency issues are those which do not fundamentally impact the way you can live in your home, and do not raise a health and safety concern or risk.
Non-emergency issues are attended to during normal working hours and repair times will vary according to the issue and the availability of spare parts/labour.
Appliance guides and instructions are in your warranty box when you move in. We suggest familiarising yourself with these documents as the answer to some issues may rest within these guide.
